FAQs

I understand that therapy is an investment and a commitment. I want to answer your questions so you feel confident working with me as your counsellor.

It’s not easy reaching out for help—especially as a man. So, I’m glad you’re here!

You might be wondering what my style as a counsellor is like and if I can even help you. Well, as a therapist in Calgary who focuses on men’s mental health, my approach to counselling is unique and tailored specifically to the challenges that men face.

My goal is to create a safe space for you to express what you need as a man in an environment designed for men.

My style is one of support, encouragement, and authenticity.

I take a very action-oriented approach with my clients and I provide the perfect blend of deep emotional work while also supporting you in achieving your goals and moving your life in the direction you desire.

There may be laughs, there may be tears, and sometimes, you will be uncomfortable. But there will always be opportunities to grow and expand.

I will support you when you need it.

Challenge you when necessary.

And call you on your shit if the moment requires it!

We will work together to create breakthroughs in your inner and outer world so you can:

  • Stop sabotaging yourself.
  • Clarify your vision for your life.
  • Feel calmer.
  • Cultivate powerful daily routines.
  • Improve your mental health, emotional wellness, and daily coping strategies.

But most of all, so you can show up for others and yourself as the powerful, caring, compassionate man you are capable of being.

Additional Questions

The number of sessions depends on what you are coming to counselling for. Typically, I would recommend working together for 8-12 sessions and then determining where to go from there.

This allows us to build rapport and make progress. Ultimately it depends on what you are coming to counselling for, what kind of support you are seeking, and the treatment plan we decide on.

Many clients will continue working with me as a form of accountability and support. Others will come back during heightened times of stress.

All sessions are conducted online.

I offer convenient appointments Monday to Friday from 9-7 pm MST. And Saturdays from 9-5 pm MST.

Please book a discovery call in order to see if I am a good fit and to schedule a session at a time that is convenient for you.

As necessary, I will provide tools, videos, handouts, and other resources to support you on your growth journey. Typically we finish each session with action steps. This helps deepen your experience and enhances the therapeutic process.

Don’t think of it as homework; think of it more like “heart work.” 🙂

You’ll never be asked to do anything you are uncomfortable with, and I will support you every step of the way.

Everything we speak about in our sessions is confidential. There are a few exceptions when I am required to break confidentiality.

  1. Whereby any person’s life or health is in obvious danger.
  2. Criminal code violations where abuse or suspected abuse of children/vulnerable populations are involved.
  3. Federal or Provincial Court subpoena.

My focus is on helping men navigate life’s biggest challenges.
