When choosing a counsellor, working with someone you're comfortable with is the most important part of therapy.
Reaching out for support is incredibly challenging. Especially for us men, the thought of asking for help makes us feel weak and like less of a man.
Maybe you don’t even know what kind of support you need or if I am the person to provide it.
That’s why I created this page to help you figure out if I am a good fit for you and if I can help you meet your goals.
Every counsellor offers something different and I want you to feel confident moving forward if we choose to work together.
As a therapist in Calgary who works with men, I aim to be the kind of counsellor I would want to see for my mental health.
My therapeutic approach is encouraging, very action-oriented, and provides the perfect blend of support and accountability so my clients can thrive.
I have a powerful arsenal of tools, strategies, and skills that I will share to help you live up to your full potential and keep you moving forward – especially on the days when you feel off.
My clients that have the most success in counselling are those who are committed to the process and are willing to look at their shit. They appreciate my warmth, encouragement, and authenticity. They are ready to take action and discover what is keeping them stuck!
When I say I am passionate about mental health counselling, I truly mean it.
When I say I am passionate about counselling and that I get your struggles, it’s not just some therapist bullshit that I am saying to try and build a connection.
Over the years, I’ve dealt with my own mental health struggles with anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and suicidal thoughts.
I’ve experienced feelings of worthlessness, self-sabotage, low self-esteem, and feeling like an absolute failure with businesses ideas falling apart or as I navigated a separation. And, I have come out the other end!
Now it’s my mission to help other men make the same breakthroughs and mindset shifts that saved my life.
This journey isn’t easy. But you don’t have to do it alone. Through my unique approach to counselling that is action-focused, encouraging, and supportive, I’ll walk beside you as you uncover who you truly are.
My clients experience incredible successes and breakthroughs in their inner and outer worlds.
- They feel on purpose and motivated.
- They increase their confidence.
- They feel calmer and more in control.
- They cultivate powerful coping strategies and tools.
- They improve their mental health and overall wellbeing.
But most of all, they become more comfortable in who they are as a man.
My Areas of Focus
Anxiety
Anxiety can be very uncomfortable and is often accompanied by overwhelming thoughts and emotions. Anxious states can cause havoc in your life and impact your decisions and behaviours. Therapy can help you break free of the patterns that keep you trapped so you can feel calm and in control.
Low Self-Esteem
Self-esteem impacts how you think, feel, and behave. Having low self-esteem can negatively impact every area of your life. Low self-esteem can have adverse effects on your relationships, career, mental, physical, and emotional health. Therapy will help you create a plan of action for developing a healthy and balanced self-esteem.
Depression
When depressed, your internal dialogue can be cruel and dark. You may find yourself stuck in a pit of despair and ruminating on thoughts that can be incredibly difficult to deal with. Therapy can help you identify the patterns that keep you stuck and develop tools to get your life back.
You might be wondering what qualifies me to be a mental health counsellor. Great question!
Now that you know how I can best serve you, who I am, and why I am passionate about this work, you might be wondering what my training is and what qualifies me to do this work.
For my training as a counsellor and a coach, I attended Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver, BC. This comprehensive program trained me to deliver counselling to individuals and groups in the areas of mental, emotional, physical and spiritual wellness.
I am a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor through the Association of Cooperative Counselling Therapists of Canada and my registration number is 2928. I am also a Certified Life Coach and incorporate Performance and Mindset Coaching into my approach as a counsellor.
Essentially, my training allows me to support you in making real progress rather than just talking in circles!
I hope this has been helpful for you to decide if I am a good fit for you as a counsellor.
If you have any other questions, just reach out. If I am not the best fit for you, chances are that I know someone who is and I would be happy to make an introduction to other Calgary therapists.
I look forward to hearing from you!
